The main cause of failure to set fruit is poor pollination. Sometimes a fruit is partially pollinated and starts to set but then aborts. Be careful not to apply insecticides during bloom as it can kill bees and other pollinator insects. Sometimes diseases can kill a developing fruit by decaying it before it gets a change to grow much. Fungicides are available if needed for such a problem.
