I have some hostas that are in a shady place under my deck. I want to move them to the back of the yard under some pine trees. My husband thinks there will be too much acid in the soil. Will it be okay to transplant them there?

Hostas like rich, moist well draining soil that's slightly acidic. They will be quite happy with a mulch of pine needles.

Wouldn't the pine tree roots make it difficult to plant the hostas? I do have a lot of mulch build up around the trees but not soil. Would I have to add soil then?
