Most of my younger aspen trees have bumps at many of the leaf bud sites on the branches. What is causing this? What can I do to correct it? (Please, oh please, don't tell me I have to cut my beautiful little trees down!)

There's nothing you need to do about the bumps on the branches of your Aspen trees. It's a natural development, known in scientific circles as 'enlarged lenticels'. As the trees mature the bumps will become orange colored ovals. Just part of the beauty of Aspen trees.
