I believe I recieved a potted Rubrum lily and am interested in finding out more about the plant and how to care for it. There were no instructions on the care or maintance or even the name of the plant can you send me a plant description and care instructions? |
In the language of lilies, rubrum probably indicates the color red. Lilies can be grown indoors or outdoors in mild winter climates. Lilies are quite easy to grow; they prefer cool temeperatures (50F) during the growing season, bright light but not direct sunlight, moist soil, and will benefit from occasional misting. When the flowers fade and the leaves begin to yellow, reduce watering. The stems will die down as the plant goes into a resting period. Keep the soil moist during this period and repot the bulb in the autumn in fresh soil. Keep it in a cold, dark, moist environment until it begins to sprout, then place it in a brightly lit but cool area for a repeat performance of early spring blooms. |
