The Q&A Archives: Best Time to Split Daylilies

Question: When is the best time to split daylilies, spring or fall? Mary Klatt Berkeley, IL

Answer: Daylilies are hard to kill. I even moved some in 90F heat in the summer and they survived. You can transplant either time...but, if you do it in the spring, do it before new growth appears to not harm the flowering. Any time in the fall is fine.
