| Most of those huge carnations are varieties special to the cut flower trade and are grown in greenhouses rather than in gardens, but you might try some of the annual and specialty dianthus types for larger blooms. Perennial seed specialty houses will offer larger flowered types. For instance, Thompson and Morgan (800-274-7333) offer several with blooms over two inches in size among the Dianthus chinensis, D. heddewigii and several D. caryophyllus types. |
