| Can I spread granular fertilizer on top of mulch and water it in, or do I need to take the mulch out first and then put it back down? |
| It is better to pull back the mulch, apply fertilizer and then replace the mulch as this reduces some to the losses of fertilizer to volatilization (turns to a gas). However, this can be a tedious task. It is not a problem to apply the fertilizer to the mulched surface and then water it in well immediately after application. |
