Paulownia Tometosa Tree - Knowledgebase Question

Can you tell me about the Royal Paulownia Tree? What are the pros and cons of growing this tree? Since I am in zone 7 will it grow here without constant attention? Is it a fast grower, and will it require lots of cleanup in the fall? We need quick shade as well as ornamental enhancement. Is this tree a good choice?

You are within the range of where Royal Paulownia is recommended. It is a very fast growing tree with nice blooms. I haven't seen one old enough to know whether it becomes a cleanup problem in its later years.

I do know that like most other fast growing trees it is not one of the more long lived species and can have some structural problems in its branching that would cause me to question its use in some landscape situations. It would give you quick shade if you give it reasonable watering and fertilizing the first few years after planting.
