What, if any, fertilizer do you use for Artichokes? Do you get more production the more you pick the artichokes?

Artichokes are perennials in your gardening region. The more mature the plant, the larger the clump and the more flowering stalks it will produce. Artichokes take a long time develop flower buds and they only produce once a year, so cutting the buds won't result in the stem producing more 'chokes. Artichoke plants get along with very little water once established and do not need to be fertilized unless the leaves are yellow and growth is poor.
