The Q&A Archives: Hosta's

Question: When is the right time to plant Hosta's?

Answer: Hosta plants grow from pips, which are essentially elongated root storage systems. The new leaves will sprout from the pips as soon as the weather begins to remain above freezing. Now is a good time to plant them in a shady bed with rich, moist soil.
