Bougainvillea does best when grown in a well drained soil. Give your plant full sunlight and don't prune heavily in winter or you will cut away potential bloom wood. Bougainvillea blooms best when they are not in so vigorous of a growing condition. Potbound container plants and in-ground plants living in marginally poor conditions seem to be among the best blooming specimens. Don't over apply fertilizer (use a balanced product sparingly) and water in order to keep it going but not luxuriously growing. |
