I want to cut back my Red-Hot Poker plants for spring. When should I do this, and how much can I trim back?

Kniphofia, (Red-Hot Poker) foliage can be cut all the way down to the ground in the spring. The sword-like leaves will be replaced during the spring and summer months with fresh, new growth.
