The Q&A Archives: Growing Tomatoes In Shade

Question: What are the best varities of tomatoes to grow in the shade (less than 3 hours of direct sunlight)?

Answer: I must be the bearer of bad news. Tomatoes perform poorly in the shade. The plants will grow, but be lanky and not set much fruit. You may find the cherry types to do a bit better in a site with low light intensity.
