A friend of mine recieved onion vidalia onion plants in the mail and was not able to plant them for several days to a month. Is there a way to store these plants potentially for a longer period of time before he is able to plant them.
Just so you know I told him to get his butt in gear a dig up his garden you lazy slob.

Onion transplants should be planted early, about a month before the last spring frost so they can grow while the weather is cool. Vidalia is a short day onion and needs to be planted early if you hope to produce any size bulb at all; PA is awfully far north for short day onions. If you need to hold them, open the original packaging a bit to allow some airflow, maintain the humidity level and hold them in a cool spot and hope for the best.
