The Q&A Archives: Bloom Time For Magnolia Galaxy

Question: My Magnolia Galaxy is 7ft tall, planted three years ago. When can I expect it to bloom and does it bloom after or before leafing out?

Answer: Your Magnolia 'Galaxy' should bear large purple flowers in the late spring, after leafing out. You've got a little more time to wait, however. Magnolia sprengeri 'Galaxy' will bloom 7 years after it was first grafted at the nursery. It will be worth the wait for the fragrant 8" wide blooms!
