The Q&A Archives: Basic Information on Bee Balm

Question: Is bee balm an annual or perennial and how should I plant it--full sun etc.? Donna Walters Pitman, NJ

Answer: Bee balm is a perennial that spreads rapidly through underground rhizomes and can actully become invasive very quickly. Amend your soil with well rotted compost. Plant in a sunny, well drained area (though it doesn't mind moderately wet soil) where you won't mind if it spreads. It can be divided annually to help keep it in check.
