| The answer to your question may or may not be "fertilizer", but the only way to know what kind or how much fertilizer to use is to run some basic soil tests. Some evergreen shrubs such as azaleas and rhododendrons require an acid soil and will yellow if this requirement is not met. (You would need to run some basic soil tests if you suspect this is the case.) Other broadleafed evergreens may bronze if grown in full sun during the winter or if exposed to wind. Some of the needled evergreens such as some arborvitae and certain junipers normally turn color during the winter months and return to their natural color by summer. So, the answer depends on which type(s) of evergreen(s) you have. Your County Extension (784-1001) may be able to help you identify your evergreens if you haven't already and should be able to help you with the soil tests and interpreting the results. |
