The Q&A Archives: Moving Delphiniums

Question: I have raised beautiful delphiniums but would like to move some of them. It is early spring in Southeastern PA and I'd like to know if I can move the plans now or should I wait till fall?

Answer: If these are young plants and you move them carefully with a large rootball into well prepared soil I think you could do it in very early spring. Water them in well and keep a close eye on them until they are reestablished. Since delphiniums tend to be short-lived I would hesitate to wait another season.
