Last year was my first year for planting kale. I did no winterizing. What can I do to bring them back this Spring? |
Kale is an annual plant that grows best in cool weather. If it is allowed to remain in the garden over the winter months, and it survives, it will bolt (send out a seed stalk) as soon as the weather warms in the spring. If you want to harvest the seeds, you can plant them in the late summer. New plants will sprout and grow during the autumn and winter months. If, on the other hand, the kale did not survive over the winter, the plants and roots are dead and will not come back this year. |
