| Licorice root is Glycyrrhiza glabra, a native of the Mediterranean regions of the world, and a member of the Legume family. As a legume, it can fix nitrogen in the soil by collecting nitrogen from the atmosphere and concentrating it in nodes on the root hairs. When the roots decompose, they release the nitrogen into the soil, which can then be used by other plants grown in that soil. |
