I have a cat who thinks my garden is his litter box. Is there any thing I can do to keep him out of my garden, I have worked hard on it and I don't want it ruined.

How frustrating! Cat feces are also potentially dangerous to handle (especially to pregnant women) because of diseases so there are a number of reasons to try to keep cats out of the garden. The most reliable method is to keep the cat indoors. Other methods are to try covering the beds with a layer of wire mesh such as chicken wire or thorny clippings that make it inhospitable to scratching. You might also try a commercial repellant spray such as "Get Away" made for this purpose, or perhaps experiment with homemade pepper sprays applied to the ground to deter the cat - especially in freshly worked or mulched areas. Another suggestion would be to create an even more appealing target area for the cat to use such as a patch of sand in some out of the way corner.
