I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction for sound information concerning growing different greenhouse herbs and lettuces. I cannot afford to buy books, so I was hoping that you know good sources for free on the internet. The info that I need would begin with a general botany lesson, and end with individual and very specific plant details (from optimal germination temperatures and conditions to ideal growing temps, humidity, light duration, bolting factors, tips and harvesting techniques). I have found sites which had some of this info, but was usually contradicted by the next source.

While it may seem that much of the information is contradictory, in many cases different methods do work and it is a matter of trial and error to discover which of them work best for you and your particular greenhouse set-up. In any case, gardeners have a saying that "Plants never read the book!" and so many times that really does seem to be true. This website includes information from a large number of academic institutions http://www.hcs.ohio-state.edu/... and can be searched quite easily. Perhaps you will find it helpful.
