I have a small greenhouse 20' x 30'. I would like to know how to grow tomatoes year round. I have experimented with a few plants. I installed a heat cable underground to keep the roots warm. I also used tomato steaks for fertilizer. What about pollination?? I started plants in Feb and now they are 26"-28" tall with lots of blooms. Will the fruit set under these conditions? I have kept the temp 65-75 degrees. Please sent any info which will be helpful . |
Tomatoes like heat and sunlight, so if you can provide those you should be able to grow fine tomatoes! A few suggestions: Outdoors, tomatoes self-pollinate, with the help of wind and gravity. In the greenhouse, to help with pollination, simply tap the flowers gently every day or every other day, to dislodge the pollen and allow it to fall on the stigma, resulting in fertilization. Also, research has shown that a fan blowing lightly in the greenhouse may help your tomatoes grow more sturdy stems. Good luck. |
