The Q&A Archives: Keeping groundhogs out of the garden

Question: Short of building a chain link fence or shooting them, is there any way to keep groundhogs out of a garden? Clint Newman Versailles, KY

Answer: Trapping groundhogs and moving them and fencing so that the wire fence goes about 1-2 feet below the soil and about 4 feet high are the only sure ways of stopping these varmints from eating your garden. All those sprays and home rememdies only work fora while, then the groundhog gets smart and he's back.
