Question: Is it true that cucumbers, squash, and cantaloupes will cross if planted to close together?

Answer: This is absolutely untrue. Only cucumbers can pollinate cucumbers, only cantaloupes can pollinate cantaloupes, and only squash can pollinate squash. And, any given type of squash can only pollinate certain other types of squash.
