Judas tree or Judas bush is Cercis siliquastrum. It's a hardy slow-growing plant that makes a bushy-headed tree or shrub. Although it is hardy, its flowers, which usually appear before its leaves, may be damaged by late frosts. Provide a protected spot with rich, well-draining soil. The flowers are 1/2 inch long and purplish-rose. The leaves are 3"-5", deeply heart shaped at the base, with a rounded, notched tip. While it's slow growing, it can reach 25' at maturity.
