I am attempting to grow asparagus which was planted in pots because the root stock was sprouting. My question is, How deep do I plant the crowns when I already have growth?

Normally the crowns are planted in a deep trench, with the idea that the crowns will stay well below the surface. If you plant them at the normal depth the sprouted ones should continue to grow and poke through the soil eventually. Since you are not supposed to harvest for the first year at least it is not a question of lessening the eating quality of the spears. The crowns should should also form additional spears once they are planted. Good luck with your asparagus patch!
