Can you please tell me when can I put my dahlias in the ground? |
Many gardeners plant the dormant dahlia tubers about two weeks before the last average frost date but I like to wait another week beyond that to give the soil time to warm up a bit more -- dahlias do not tolerate frost so you don't want to plant them too early, and be sure to cover them if a frost threatens after they have come up. If they have already sprouted, wait until the danger of frost has gone by before you plant them out or start them in pots and then transplant them to the garden. Enjoy your dahlias! |
