Question: I would like to know if it would cause any harm if I planted a vegtable garden over or near a septic field? Pamela Meyer Shelby Township, MI

Answer: You shouldn't plants any edible crops over a septic field. If the field fails, your edible crops may be contaminated with harmful organisms. You can plant annual flowers and any shallow rooted crop. Avoid trees and shrubs too.
