I have 24 Gerbera jamesonii seedlings and wish to plant and grow several per container. The containers are from 12 to 18 inches in diameter. What do you suggest for a minimum spacing?

Your Gerbera plants will spread from 12" - 18" at maturity, so planting more than one per container will certainly crowd them. The problems with crowding is that it encourages disease (from poor air circulation), and keeps the plants from performing to perfection. I'd plant one per container, allowing it all the space, moisture and nutrients it needs to put on a spectacular show.
