I would like to have an indoor planter containing grass that is about 6 inches tall that just sticks straight up.
I'm wondering if you can suggest a certain variety of grass that would work best for this?

Nearly any type of grass would work (you'll need to trim it to the desired height), but a red fescue would be one of the finer bladed types. Keep in mind that eventually any type of grass will object to the artificial conditions indoors so you may need to rotate or replace the planting periodically. Have fun with your project!
