The Q&A Archives: Fruits from citrus trees growns from seed

Question: We have two Citrus trees that 5 years old and approximatly 15' high. They both have large thorns. Neither tree has ever blossomed. Will citrus trees grown from seed bear fruit and if so when? Harry Hunt Orlando, FL

Answer: Your citrus trees grown from seeds will eventaully bare fruit, but the quality will probably be small and not very tasty. I'd say in a year or two they should begin. Buy named varieties of citrus such as 'Meyer' lemons or 'Navel' ornages to get good tasting fruits.
