The Q&A Archives: Mild jalapenos

Question: I just bought a jar of pickled jalapeno peppers. The jar said mild and they are.I just love the flavor and very mild heat. Are there different types of jalopeno peppers that one can grow in the garden? I have only seen one kind and they are very very hot. Or is this company reducing the heat in the peppers with chemicals or something. If its a special type of jalapeno I would love to grow some. Judy Rathburn Flint, MI

Answer: Yes, there are different types of jalapeno peppers. The mildest I've ever grown is called 'Senorita' and it's available through, Tomato Growers Supply Co. P.O. Box 2237 Ft. Myers, FL 33902 941-768-1119
