I have a spot that gets full to partial sun. I need an idea for a plant to put there. It needs to be able to take a beating and come back; because the kids don't pay atention to the spot and they walk all over it all of the time. Also, needs to be a ground hugger, under 1 foot high.

There are several perennial plants which can withstand a certain amount of foot traffic, but if there is too much you might need to consider adding a path or stepstones or the like to disguise the wear. You might try creeping thyme, chamomile, or mazus reptans. These are all very short, just a few inches tall, and generally very tough plants yet also attractive to look at.
