Answer: Earwigs can damage plants if they choose to feed on them, but it's more likely that the earwigs have chosen to hide between the leaves of your garlic plants where it's dark and moist. You can make some traps for the earwigs by pouring a half-inch of vegetable oil into small tuna or catfood cans. Just in case the earwigs are drawn to your garlic because of the odor, you might want to crush a little garlic to put into the oil.
