The Q&A Archives: Blooming of Purple Robe Locust

Question: I recently bought a Purple Robe Locust tree and would like to know when and how long they usually bloom? And is there another name for this tree?

Answer: Robina pseudoacacia 'Purple Robe' is the formal name of your locust tree, and you have chosen one of the prettiest forms with dark rose-pink flowers on a compact, rounded tree that will probably grow to a maximum of 30' tall. You can expect flowers in May or early June, and they generally last 7-10 days.
