Do you have to replace wetting agent in containers annually? I added some last year and am not sure whether I need to add a fresh batch to each pot this year when planting.

The water-holding polymers theoretically last for a number of years, but in my experience the plant roots tend to hold onto the "granules" and so a number of them are removed along with the old plants each year. You might want to check around in the soil and see how much is left, and add more accordingly.
