I recently discovered an odd looking plant in my backyard ivy patch. It has 3 very large (approx. 4") green clover like leaves with a purple flower in the middle. It looked ominous to me -- like it might be poisonous. It flowered in mid-April, but now the flower has died, but the leaves are still alive. Do you know what this might be? Should I remove it?

You might have an innocent seedling weed or wildflower, or you might have something poisonous. Unfortunately, based on your description I'm not sure what plant you have there; since you don't recognize it, to be on the safe side you might take a sample to you County Extension (461-1000) for identification. That way you'll know for sure.
