I have a three year old PeeGee Hydrangea, which I haven't pruned yet. I noticed that many bottom branches do not have active growth and appear dormant. The upper branches have all the green and for the last two years have had all the flowers. Should these lower branches be pruned out? If so when? The plant is about 2 to 3 feet tall now. |
Although the lower branches appear to be dormant, they may in fact be dead. If this is the case (there are no leaves and there is no green within) go ahead and remove them. |
