How do you protect young trees from cicadas? Is there something that you can apply to the trunk? Thank you very much for your help!!

I recommend covering your trees with a fabric row cover. The cicadas will split the branches as well as the trunk, and although you can prune out affected branches, it's best to prevent the problem entirely. Check with your local farm supply center or hardware store for row covers, or contact Gardener's Supply Co. at 800/863-1700, www.gardeners.com/.
