We are having a problem getting our giant bird of paradise to flower. What kind of fertilizer might help? |
Strelitzia nicolai, or Giant Bird of Paradise, is grown for its lush tropical foliage. The stem often grows to 30' tall and the leaves can grow from 5' to 10'long, giving a dramatic display. The flowers on this plant are incidental and not at all like the bold and colorful flowers of the garden Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae). The garden variety develops striking multicolored blooms that resemble the plumes of a tropical bird. I'm afraid you're expecting your plant to perform in ways it never can! |
