The Q&A Archives: Low-growing ground covers

Question: I am looking for a low growing ground cover for shade and am considering English ivy or vinca minor. Which grows lowest? Conn Medford, NJ

Answer: A. Vinca or periwinkle is probably a little lower growing. Some other interesting low growing covers for shaded areas would be ajuga (bugleweed), asarum (wild ginger), epimedium (bishop's hat) or lily of the valley.
