There are so many, and herbs have so many uses (culinary, crafts, medicinal, etc.), that it depends on what you're looking for! For example, Achillea (yarrow) is considered a a perennial herb, as are garlic chives. Also, in your cold climate, some of the well-known culinary perennial herbs that originated in the Mediterranean area may have difficulty in the winter. That doesn't mean that you can't grow them, but you may have to treat them as annuals. I suggest you check out some of the excellent references on herbs. I like The Herb Society of America's Encyclopedia of Herbs & Their Uses (ISBN 0-7894-0184-3), which describes over 1000 herbs. Rodale's also has a good herb reference. Or, send another question detailing what you're looking for from the plant and we can provide some possibilities. Thanks for writing!
