The Q&A Archives: Removing Dead and Wilted Leaves from Plants

Question: Should I cut off the dead and wilting leaves, and yellow leaves from all of my vegetables? Tomatoes, squash, cucumber, zucchini, etc.?

Answer: You can for aesthetic reasons, but otherwise it is unnecessary. The only reason I might remove old yellow leaves is if they had leaf disease spots all over them. Then removing the leaves may reduce the incidence of disease on the plants.
