| I have four glads that do very well but they die at the bottom as they grow. Can you tell me why? Is it normal? |
| It sounds like your glads may have dry rot, which is caused by a fungus in the soil. The disease starts at the bottom of the stalk and slowly works its way up the plant and eventually kills the leaves. If you see little black pellets crusted on the dying stalk, then this is the culprit. Once the fungus is in the soil, it can remain alive for up to 10 years, so next time, plant fresh bulbs in well-drained soil in full sun. Don't try to save the bulbs, because once the bulbs are infected, they carry the fungus with them. Hope this helps! |
