| After two years of growing cucumbers from seeds, we decided to try plants this year. We set out about 10 plants 2-3 weeks ago. They seem to still be alive, but aren't showing any signs of growth. We are trying to keep them well watered and they are in full sunlight. We also used fertilizer on the soil before we planted them. Is there anything else we should be doing to keep them healthy? |
| You may simply have put them out in the garden too soon. Cucumbers are heat-loving plants. They also take a long time to recover if their roots are disturged during transplanting. They prefer a well-drained soil, so don't water to the point where the soil is saturated. You may be able to encourage growth by covering them with hot caps or fabric row cover, which will capture heat and promote growth. If the plants don't work out, you can always plant seeds when the danger of frost has passed. Best of luck! |
