Poinciana, also called Caesalpinia, is a tough, fast growing shrub to about 10' in height with an equal spread. It produces clusters of yellow flowers adorned with protruding, bright red, 4"-5" long stamens. The flowers are attractive to hummingbirds. The plant prefers full sunshine and light, well-draining soil. Water deeply but infrequently. If the shrub freezes back to the ground in the winter, it will rebound quickly in the spring.
