| Your plant has developed a seed pod. It's possible that the seeds are sterile, but if they're viable you can germinate them and start new little plants. Cut the pod and stem off if you're not interested in starting seeds. If you'd like to try your hand at germinating the seeds, wait until the pod ripens and turns a tannish color. Then cut the pod from the plant, carefully open it, and plant the seeds by sowing on the surface of moistened seed starting mix. Cover the trays or pots with plastic wrap to hold in moisture and then place in a warm area, such as on top of the refrigerator. Viable seeds will germinate in 30-60 days when kept at temperatures of 70F-75F degrees. |
