Question: The limited summer in Iceland makes it difficult to grow vegetables. I was looking for vegetables that only need 60 to 80 growing days particularly in the pea line. Also any roses that will stand a long winter Margaret Johnson Iceland.

Answer: Some good cold weather vegetables that will mature quickly are kale, lettuce, swiss chard, squash, carrots, beets, potatoes, broccoli, cabbage and short season tomatoes such as 'Siberia' and 'Northern Exposure' Some good roses are any of the rugosa types such as 'Rubra', 'Alba' and 'Hansa'.
