| All my peas have succumbed to powdery mildew before maturity. None of our other flowers or vegetables (and we have lots) have any significant problem. What's the cause and can anything be done for prevention? |
| Powdery mildew often attacks peas, and it's generally because the weather conditions that favor peas also favor the growth of powdery mildew. Try to avoid overhead watering, and give your plants plenty of elbow room to encourage good air circulation among and between the plants. To avoid the problem next year, plant resistant cultivars and plant early in the season. Be sure to rotate your pea crops to other areas of the garden next year. In your region you might try planting in the summer for a fall harvested crop, or in January for an early spring crop. |
